In an interview with Caterer Middle East, McGettigan’s founder Dennis McGettigan revealed plans for the Irish concept to be expanded on a global scale.
With multiple locations in the UAE and Ireland, the Irish pub will next be seen in Singapore and New York. McGettigan said: “What we’re doing now is Singapore which should open on March 17, 2015, St Patrick’s Day. New York I’m hoping to open on February 28.”
He also said the brand is actively pursuing other opportunities. He revealed: “I’m going to look at London and Doha. We should have these open by September 2015. I want to expand in Europe, and the United States in a large way. I would like to get into Africa and India."

McGettigan continued: "I want to try and have a situation whereby whatever airport you’re in, or whatever city you’re in, you know there’s a McGettigan’s not too far away. We want to aim for 50-70 McGettigan’s over the next five years.”
The first McGettigan’s site opened four years ago in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), Dubai. That is also undergoing a few changes with an AED 7 million expansion [US $1.9 million], which will see the creation of a “gig room by adding an extra 3000 square feet to the existing premises on the same level".
