In an interview with Caterer Middle East, Gates Hospitality CEO Naim Maadad revealed that one of the new projects he is working on is a French bistro concept.

Named Bistro des Arts, the first outlet is scheduled to open in May 2015, and will be located at the marina level of The Address Hotel, Dubai Marina.

Maadad said: “I think there’s a huge market and vacuum in Dubai for such a brand here. Everything that we have already, that is French, is expensive.

“I am looking forward to making a very French bistro concept, which I genuinely can’t say does exist in Dubai. It’s mid-market and will have an alcohol licence.”

He further explained that Bistro des Arts is a start-up brand, with Gates Hospitality creating the “entire look and feel” to be very French.

With an indoor and outdoor section, the venue has a total of 120 seats, which Maadad dubs a “great size for the Marina”.

Gates Hospitality is working with Creneau International on the interiors and fit-out, and the work begins in February 2015, to follow a 90-day cycle.

Maadad will have two front-of-house representatives joining him — both of whom are French and have been in the region for multiple years. He added: “Yes I’m going to have two GMs. It’s one of those businesses that I like to call chef patron. So it’s their business to operate.”
