Qbara is set to host a monthly competition, pitting bartenders against each other, where the crowd on the night will be the judge.
This month, March 23 will see Qbara bartender Eyad Al Qassar and Belvedere guest bartender James Estes out to impress the guests where the winning accolade is decided by the most orders.
A special price of AED 30 (US $8.17) is offered for two signature creations: Qbara cocktail, Ahlan!, a martini combining Belvedere vodka and rich pomegranate shaken with orange liqueur, cranberry and hibiscus; and the signature Belvedere cocktail, Onyx Martini, an elegant cocktail created for an upscale market.
A key member of the bar team since the restaurant’s opening, Al Qassar has worked in high-profile venues throughout the world including stints in Paris, Australia, Lebanon and Jordan and hotels including the Intercontinental and the Ritz Carlton.
Estes moved to the UAE to open and run Dubai’s first speakeasy bar and was considered one of the four most promising bartenders in the UAE leg of the 2013 Bacardi Legacy Competition, his drink “Mother Superior” was listed as one of the “25 Cocktails to Drink Before You Die” by Huffington Post.
