Casual dining and self-service restaurant Red Apron, which is located in Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai, has won a food safety award from Environment, Health and Safety (EHS).

The award is for recognition of the high standards set in food safety management and the overall approach of process and performance excellence, and for constantly maintaining food safety standards.

EHS, the regulatory division of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) and Dubai World, annually recognizes organisations for their excellence and innovation in: industrial operations, food safety, environmental performance, ports & maritime, construction safety and green/sustainable buildings.

The winners were selected from a number of shortlisted nominees after verifications of food safety practices by technical experts of the award committee. The verification process involved a document review, site visits and employee interviews.

Abela & Co is certified in HACCP and ISO 22000 and maintains a food safety management system above local regulatory requirements. Red Apron, which opened its first store in Ibn Battuta Mall, has been operating for just over 18 months.
