The Hotelier Middle East Sustainable Design and Operation Summit, to be held on June 3 at Grosvenor House, Dubai, will be a carbon neutral event.

Event sponsor Farnek has partnered with organisers to ensure that carbon emissions at the event will be offset by MyClimate, who will replace climate-impacting energy sources with clean, renewable ones by supporting projects that use renewable energy, cut methane emissions, and support reforestation programmes.

Commenting on Farnek’ support for the event, director consultancy Sandrine Le Biavant said: “It is our responsibility to support this event to create more awareness and capacity building in the market to create more initiatives and success stories.

“This year we will focus on the benefits of benchmarking as a source of efficiency. For new (green) buildings, this is a test over existing properties to assess the impact of the decisions made in the construction phase and if positive to communicate the success. For existing buildings, it is a way to involve management and owners into a new strategy of reducing the property’s impact, generating more savings and communicating clearly about the performance.”
