Fine wine and luxury spirits retailer at Dubai International, Le Clos, has announced it is the first in the world to offer the rare Ledaig 42 Year Old to global consumers.

The 1972 vintage malt named Dùsgadh, meaning ‘awakening’ in Scot’s Gaelic, reflecting the long, dormant period of maturation, is the rarest and oldest Ledaig ever released. Ten bottles are now available at Le Clos.

Le Clos general manager Ben Odgers said: “We are passionate about making exceptional wines and spirits accessible to our customers travelling to and through Dubai. To have an island whisky of more than 40 years old is extremely rare, so we know that there will be many whisky lovers around the world who will want to get their hands on a bottle.”

Jan De Bruyn, regional business manager, Distell Asia Pacific, said: “As Le Clos is experienced at bringing unique products such as our precious 42 Year Old whisky to market, it is a real honour to launch it here first. Dubai International is a true travel hub with a vast array of international customers passing through and to Dubai, and we are excited to be able to share something so unique with them.”

Each box of Ledaig 42YO available for USD 5,200 (AED 19,000), contains a handcrafted copper card, which entitles the buyer to inherit a bottle of Ledaig 10YO from the last distillate from the old stills, which will be available in 2025.

The packaging has been inspired by the copper from the retired stills, which released the first spirit in 1972 and has finally reached the end of its distilling life.
