Atana Hotels has appointed Khaled Elwan as new cluster GM, looking after its Musandam hotels in Oman.
Overseeing operations for Atana Musandam and Atana Khasab hotels, Elwan is a native Arabic speaker, raised in Kuwait.
Commenting on his new role, Elwan said: “Musandam is an amazing destination that is fast gaining popularity regionally and internationally; I look forward to working with the Atana team members to support the development of the Atana brand and increase awareness of the year-round attractions of the Musandam Peninsula”.
He joins Atana Hotels from his role as hotel manager at Baron Hotels & Resorts in Egypt.
Elwan has held management and rooms division roles with a number of international operators, including Banyan Tree, Shangri-La and Anantara Hotels & Resorts.
He began his hospitality career in the front office at Iberotel, Egypt.
Commenting on the appointment, Pascal Eppink, managing director of parent company, Oman-based Dhiaffa said: “Khaled has always demonstrated a results oriented focus with a keen interest in both team motivation and guest relations.
“We are delighted to welcome him to Atana Hotels Musandam where he is responsible for both Atana Musandam and Atana Khasab hotels, overseeing operations, development of team members and supporting our sales and brand awareness activities.”
Atana was established by Omran, the sultanate's development, investment and hospitality asset management company, through its National Omani Hotel Company subsidiary last year.
