Hotel construction in the Middle East/ Africa has increased by 44.3% in June 2015 compared to June 2014 according to STR Global’s Construction Pipeline Report.
The region reported 95,162 rooms in 366 hotels under construction for the month.
There are a total of 659 hotels, totalling 168,361 rooms under contract in the Middle East/ Africa region, which represents a 17% increase in rooms under contract compared to June 2014.

Among the region’s key markets, Dubai reported the largest number of rooms under construction with 17,358 rooms in 68 hotels.
Three other markets reported more than 5000 rooms under construction: Makkah, Saudi Arabia (14,882 rooms in nine hotels); Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (6551 rooms in 26 hotels); and Doha, Qatar (6119 rooms in 25 hotels).
The under contract data includes projects in the in construction, final planning and planning stages but does not include projects in the unconfirmed stage.

According to STR Global's May 2015 pipeline data there were 40.4% more rooms under construction in the region in May 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.
The region reported 91,510 rooms in 351 hotels under construction for the month.
