Eric Danziger Eric Danziger

Eric Danziger will take over as chief executive officer of Donald Trump’s Trump Hotel Collection, Bloomberg has reported.

This marks the first time a non-family member has headed up the collection.

Danziger will leave his position as president and CEO of Hampshire Hotels & Resorts to become the first non-family member to head up the hospitality arm of the Trump Organization.

Commenting on the appointment, Trump said: “The Trump Hotel Collection has been an amazing success, and we are very pleased to welcome Eric to the company.

“We have some of the greatest hotels in the finest locations in the world. Eric will play a vital role in our continued expansion and the incredible future of Trump Hotels.”

With more than 40 years of hospitality industry experience, Danziger began his career as a bellman the Fairmont in San Francisco and has held executive positions at a number of companies, including Wyndham Hotel Group.

The Trump Hotel Collection is eying luxury properties in the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, The Trump Organization executive vice president of development & acquisitions, Ivanka Trump told Hotelier Middle East in an exclusive interview earlier this year.

Trump has come under fire this year after making anti-immigrant remarks, which resulted in famous chef Jose Andres, a native of Spain and a recent U.S. citizen, backing out of a deal to open a restaurant in Trump’s newest hotel.

Shortly after that, another celebrity chef and TV personality, Gregory Zakarian, also refused to honour his agreement to open a branded restaurant in Trump's NYC hotel, set to open in 2016.
