Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, has appointed Wael Maatouk as general manager of the resort.
In his new role, Maatouk will be responsible for all aspects of the resort’s operations, including financial performance, guest engagement, employee development and brand recognition.
A Canadian citizen with Lebanese roots, Maatouk brings 20 years of experience in the hotel industry to the fore.

Prior to his current appointment, Maatouk was the hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh. Maatouk was part of the opening team for the luxury hotel in Saudi Arabia, and was responsible for the management of the daily operations.
He has also previously held the title of executive assistant manager of food and beverage at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai. He has worked in several counties including Egypt, Canada and Oman prior to joining Sharq Village & Spa as assistant director of food and beverage in 2007.
Maatouk began his career early as a food and beverage professional in the hospitality industry. He holds several educational distinctions most notably - a Culinary Art Diploma, a Hospitality Management Diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, along with an Executive MBA.
