The Hotelier Middle East Awards 2015 took place at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City on Wednesday, October 28, with the winners revealed in 15 individual categories and one team category.

During the James Bond-themed event, Doha Marriott took a clean sweep of all three categories it was nominated in: F&B Manager of the Year going to Dietmar Platz, GM of the Year John Hazard, as well as the coveted Team of the Year award.

The Palace Downtown Dubai scopped away two plaudits, with the Fitness/Spa Person of the Year going to its spa and recreation manager Sayed Salem El Sayed, and Housekeeper of the Year title awarded to Lakmal Darshana Mawella Kankanamge.

The InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) had a great night as well - with three properties taking away coveted gongs.

Hotel Engineer of the Year 2015 was Lawrence Sebastian Dsouza, who is the chief engineer at InterContinental Regency Hotel Bahrain, while InterContinental Muscat room attendant Yahya Saif Al Hatmi was named Unsung Hero of the Year.

InterContinental Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia personnel manager Yasmin Al Sanea was crowned Young Hotelier of the Year.

Jumeirah Group was lauded in two categories, with Jumeirah at Etihad Towers IT manager Muhammad Usman Rana name-checked as IT Manager of the Year 2015, and Emirati national Mona Abdulla AlHebsi, director of HR from Jumeirah Creekside Hotel winning HR & Training Person of the Year.

Sebastian Nohse, director of culinary, JW Marriott Marquis won the Executive Chef of the Year title for the second time in three years, albeit with a different property this time around. 

The Front Office Person of the Year title went to Felix Tochukwu Alozie, the concierge at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City.

Media One Hotel's head of security Ali Hassoun was named Safety & Security Person of the Year, while Atlantis, The Palm SVP finance Conor Lawler was Purchasing/Finance Person of the Year 2015.

Sales & Marketing Person of the Year was Rania Keedy director of sales and marketing at The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC, with Kempinski Hotel Ajman hotel manager Kai Schukowski heralded as Hotel Manager/EAM of the Year.

Sponsors of the awards included Sealed Air - Diversey, A. Ronai, Restonic, Protect-A-Bed, The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, Ecolab, Figjam, Acqua Panna & S. Pellegrino, Julius Meinl, Pulsar Foodstuff, and Table Art.
