Al Bustan Centre and Residence in Dubai has recently completed an energy-saving initiative for its room management system, as part of the hotel’s contribution to conservation practices.

The Green Globe Initiative aims to put into practice energy management system on every guest room including controls on air conditioning and lighting facilities.

“We started implementing the Green Globe Initiative as part of our contribution to energy saving practices to preserve and protect the Earth. This may be a very small act as compared to other global initiatives, but we know that it can make a significant difference when done continuously, and we hope to inspire other properties and businesses as well,” said Al Bustan Centre and Residence chief operating officer Moussa El Hayek.

The new energy-saving programme involves the proper use of electrical equipment to decrease carbon emission and lower energy consumption.

Energy management practices include the control on the usage of air condition and lighting facilities in every guest room whenever the guest is inside or outside the room. The outcome of this control will help reduce the energy cost to almost 10% of the total utility cost.

Further energy saving practices include the installation of a centralised instant hot water system for all the guest rooms, run by LPG gas, expected to save a lot of energy when compared to the standard electrical heaters.

Al Bustan also introduced energy saving practices at the property’s shopping centre, featuring 78 shops, utilising LED bulbs that will result to achieving approximately 7% savings on the property’s total energy consumption.
