Golden Group of Companies and Taameer Investment SAOC signed an agreement to build one of the largest hotels chain in alliance with Rotana group in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah.

The signing ceremony was held in Jibreen hall at Muscat Intercontinental Hotel under the patronage of HE Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrazi, Minister of Tourism.

“We are proud to have been chosen to manage these five properties in Oman and I wish to thank Golden Group and Taameer Investment for their trust and confidence,” said Nasser Al Nowais, chairman of Rotana.

Al Nowais added: "Rotana sees Oman as an important growth market, and with our decades of experience and global expertise in hotel management, we are confident we can add value to the hospitality industry in the region and bring a new level of sophistication to the guest experience.

"Those openings will make a major contribution to the community by providing additional employment opportunities for Omani nationals and strengthening the local supply chain in support of the country’s developing tourism industry. As we continue to execute on our vision of operating 100 hotels by 2020, Rotana looks forward to assuming a central role in elevating the hospitality scene in Oman while meeting the demands of the market."

The new hotels comprise approximately 1500 hotel rooms over the next five years in these major cities in five, four and three star categories.

Sheikh Salim bin Ahmad Al Ghazali, chairman, GGC & Taameer said: “We are happy with this strategic alliance and signing the agreement with Rotana Hotel Management Company, which reflects a roadmap for our hotel investments in hospitality, tourism and travel industries in the coming stage”.

Taameer CEO Suleiman bin Masood Al Harthi added: "The construction of hotels like the Wave Muscat Hotel and Shaza Salalah Hotel & Spa is part of GGC & Taameer investing in this industry due to the steady growth and rapid increase in demand for 3/4/5-star hotels & hotel apartments. Signing the agreement with Rotana coincides with the operation of Salalah International Airport and completing the main stages in the expansion of Muscat International Airport, which shall create a qualitative leap in the number of flights coming to the Sultanate.

"This requires doubling residence and hotel service. We made an alliance with one of the most renowned companies in hotel management in the region and this will ensure the highest and finest levels of quality hotel services under the world brand Rotana, and we also contracted the best engineering consultants in the world to implement these projects."
