Burj Al Arab is to get a new bar as part of the hotel's most significant upgrade since it opened in December 1999.

Jumeirah Group president and CEO Gerald Lawless hinted at hotel expansion plans earlier this month and now there is an indication of what to expect on the company website.

"We are thrilled to announce we will be opening a sophisticated new bar on the 27th floor, adjacent to the famous Skyview Bar, offering a unique and intimate feel, with floor-to-ceiling views of the city and the Arabian Gulf," a statement said.

This month, Burj Al Arab will also unveil a "significantly" upgraded Bab Al Yam poolside restaurantand and complete the first phase of its land lot expansion.
