Development plans of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority aim to attract one million tourists by the end of 2017.

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has revealed the tourist arrival figures to the emirate increased by 6.8% during 2015 compared with 2014.

The Authority noted that future development plans of this sector aim to attract one million tourists over the next year, according to local reports.

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority CEO Haitham Mattar said: “Ras Al Khaimah has already been recognised as the fastest growing emirate in terms of tourism and a first choice for business and leisure travellers. Our aim is to build on this by enriching the quality of experiences for visitors to the emirate. Training programmes such as this mean that our tour guides are now fully equipped with the knowledge and expertise to deliver standout tours showcasing the authentic Arabian culture on offer in Ras Al Khaimah.”

It was also noted that the contribution of the tourism sector to the GDP improved compared with that during previous years, following increases in the number of tourists and visitors to the emirate - 675,000 tourists having visited the emirate since the beginning of 2015.

Mattar added the emirate continues its plans to attract roughly one million tourists in 2016, adding that the emirate now has a strong tourist structure that suits its ambitions and future aspirations.
