Tourism to Iran is on the rise Tourism to Iran is on the rise

A spokesperson for an Iranian shipping company has revealed plans for an Islamic tourism cruise, according to a report by ETN.

The cruise, which is expected to launch in 2016, will sail between Iran, Muscat and Salalah in Oman and Mumbai in India.

The new initiative has been planned with support from the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organisation, which already schedules direct cargo services between Iran and Oman.

The cruise is expected to take between seven and ten days, with Iranian and Omani tourists as the main demographic.

Recent evidence indicates that tourism between the two countries is on the rise.

The Iranian embassy in Muscat has stated that tourism from Iran to Oman has increased by 10% in the last year, while Iranian travel visas issued to Omanis have increased by 37%.

Oman Air has added a second flight daily to the Iranian capital, Tehran. The airline also has plans to launch routes between Oman and other Iranian cities such as Mashhad and Shiraz.

The cruise is expected to include Iran’s ski destinations Dizin in the Alborz mountain range, as well as hot springs in the north or west of the country.
