The index placed the Kingdom in 67th position in terms of achievement of more investment in tourism infrastructure, while in terms of air, sea and land ports it is placed at the 60th position.
The positive statistics released by WEF were only enough to place the Kingdom in 40th globally overall as a tourist destination.
The country placed slightly lower in the rankings in terms of tourism service infrastructure, achieving 67th position, and in eco-friendly policies for sustainable development and long-term tourism competitiveness power it is placed at 121st.
The latest figures follow a similar full-year report that stated Makkah experienced a 7% year-on year (Y-o-Y) increase in RevPAR in 2015, while hotel occupancy rates in Makkah reached 90% during the most recent Umrah season due to pilgrims and visitors to the Holy Capital of Saudi Arabia.
The WEF report added that the travel and tourism industry helps create new job opportunities, stating that for every 30 new tourists visiting any specific destination results in the creation of one job.
