Keen young soccer players have already signed up to the next Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) season via an online registration system that launched this week.

The fourth season of this year doesn’t begin until October 4, but interest is said to have been boosted by the recent Euro 2008 Football Championships and the UAE’s success in gaining a place in the Asian Qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

New to the fourth season of the MUSS — which is operated by Dubai Sports City (DSC) — is a course developed specifically for six-year-olds to develop their skills and confidence and support their love for the game, said MUSS Dubai head coach Andy Dixon.

“We have received an overwhelming response from both returning MUSS participants and first-time applicants who want to make sure they have a place for the upcoming season,” added Dixon.

“The kids are always excited to improve their football skills, make new friends, and have the opportunity to participate in our skills challenges, and this is why MUSS is very popular amongst the UAE youth,” he said.

It is not just young people from the UAE that are attracted to the soccer school though; last season attracted more than 700 boys and girls of 60 different nationalities.

The fourth season will follow the school term system and offer 10 week courses at the Emirates International School in Jumeirah.

It is expected to be the last season held in the this location before MUSS takes up its permanent location in DSC upon completion of its new facilities within the DSC Football Academy in the first quarter of 2009.
