The long-awaited spa revamp at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea in Jordan is close to completion and ready to open in October, spa operator Anantara has revealed.

Despite the delay in opening — the spa was originally set to launch in May — the new spa manager is determined to make it one of the very best luxury spa facilities in the region.

Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea spa director Tricia Collins, who joined the property in May following a career launching, managing and consulting to a vast range of spas, said: “This is going to be one of the largest spas in the Middle East. It will be the number one in Jordan, that I assure you, but I want it to be much bigger. I want it to be at least one of the top spas in the Middle East and for me the standard of service will be the best; everything will have the wow factor. I don’t do things in half measures — it has to be the best.”

The 10,000m² Anantara Spa features 20 treatment rooms, 28 spa suites and outdoor therapy lounges and a ‘garden of the senses’ with views of the Dead Sea.

Inspired by Middle Eastern and Asian health and beauty practices, the spa’s wet facilities include a traditional Moroccan Hammam, ice cave, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi, natural Dead Sea mineral pools, hydro bubble pool, steamrooms and a Watsu pool.

Treatments will range from traditional Thai and Ayurvedic therapies to new signature treatments based on the sun, moon and planets.

Other treatments have been developed using the natural healing effects of the Dead Sea.

The Anantara Signature Magical Suspense package, for example, utilises the therapeutic properties of the Dead Sea with a purifying and aromatic journey that includes Dead Sea Float, Mud Wrap and Anantara detoxifying massage.

The luxuty spa also features a spa studio, which will offer yoga, tai chi, meditation and pilates.

Anantara also operates the luxury spa at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi as well as resorts and spas in Thailand, the Maldives and Bali.
