Kuwait's tourism sector viewed as a way to diversify sources of income and create more opportunities for young people, according to a senior official speaking at the inauguration of a conference on tourism called Tourism and Development: Reality and Outlook.
Kuwaits Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah highlighted the nation's tourism development strategy.
"This strategy includes participation from the private sectors, and aims to promote and develop new sources of national income other than the traditional methods that are based on oil," he said.

According to the minister, developing the tourism sector's infrastructure is required to achieve the vision of transforming Kuwait into a financial and commercial hub.
"In 2013, a state body was set-up to encourage direct investment in order to improve the overall investment environment, enhance competitiveness and expand participation opportunities. It also contributes to the implementation of the goals of economic and social policies of the country," the minister added.
