According to a statement by McGettigan’s group, Dubai-based restaurant Frioul is due to close its location in the Souk Madinat Jumeirah permanently, and the space will be taken over by the Irish pub chain.
The news follows a recent announcement by McGettigan's that the group plans to launch a new venue in Dubai at the Hilton Hotel JBR. The two new proposed Dubai venues are part of McGettigan's major expansion plans, aiming at 40 new openings over five years.
McGettigan’s has revealed that the Provence-inspired restaurant is due to close on May 13 2016.
The outlet at Souk Madinat Jumeirah will be the fourth McGettigan’s branch in Dubai, and sixth in the UAE. Currently, the new McGettigan’s site at the Madinat Jumeirah is expected to open in the summer of 2016.
The bar will be managed in partnership with Utopia, Viva Entertainment - the owners of Frioul. It will offer McGettigan’s signature Irish pub concept, of traditional Irish pub food, a licensed bar, live music and live sports coverage on big screens.
Commenting on the latest McGettigan’s pub launch, McGettigan’s Group CEO Dennis McGettigan commented: “Madinat Jumeirah is one of the most prestigious and visited locations in Dubai and opening a McGettigan's at this site is an extremely proud moment for us as a group.
“We feel we can bring a different style of dining and nightlife experience to the Madinat which will perfectly complement the existing offering of top quality bars and restaurants already available.”
