The Oberoi, Al Zorah is set to open on December 20, 2016, revealed its general manager Burkhard Wolter.

The property in Ajman will be one of three new luxury properties for The Oberoi Group this year with two others including The Oberoi Marrakech, Morocco and The Oberoi Sukhvilas, Chandigarh.

The Oberoi Al Zorah is positioned as "a luxury eco-destination resort". It has a long beachfront, lagoons, mangroves and 247 acres of natural forest with biodiversity, and Wolter said the opening rate will start at 400 euros (US $453).

It will offer 113 villas, suites and a penthouse; the rooms and suites offer private balconies, while the villas offer terraces and temperature-controlled private pools. The entry level size of the rooms are 81m2, confirmed Wolter, who joined the Oberoi Group seven months ago.

In addition, the hotel will have a spa with a traditional hammam, an 80-metre pool, a fully equipped gymnasium, and daycare facilities for families.

With regard to F&B, Wolter revealed to Hotelier that the hotel will offer two restaurants, one on the beach with a seafood grill concept and South American flavours.

"The main restaurant has a glass cube with live cooking, so you can see the tandoor oven, the dim sum, the kababs... you have entertainment. For breakfast, the guests can actually go in and engage with the chefs," he said.

The beach will also have, Wolter said, a gin and cocktail bar. "Then we will have a wide selection of wine by the glass," he explained.

Wolter emphasised the importance of touchpoints, including personalised service, and the overall experience offered to the guests. "You need to be consistent. The reputation [of the hotel] and the expectation of the guests needs to be fulfilled," he added.

Earlier this year, Oberoi Group announced two new properties in Qatar – a 250-key luxury hotel in the West Bay area of Doha, and a 148-key luxury serviced apartment located in Lusail, Doha.
