Hotels is Abu Dhabi are reporting an increase in demand by 5.3% in the month of May, according to preliminary May 2016 data released by STR.

The data is also reporting higher occupancy levels and lower rates.

Based on daily data from May, Abu Dhabi hotels showed a 4% increase in supply and a 5.3% increase in demand in year-over-year comparisons.

May occupancy has also shown an increase to 74.4%, rising by 1.3%.

The data also revealed a 4.1% decrease in average daily rate (ADR), to AED 433.10 (US $118), and a 2.9% decrease in revenue per available room (RevPAR) to AED 322.06 ($88).

According to the statement by STR, performance was helped by the Isra and Mi'raj holiday, which boosted Thursday, May 5 occupancy to 95.4% and ADR to AED 558.59 ($152).

Occupancy on Friday, May 6 reached 86.8%, and ADR was AED 529.86 ($144).

The news comes in after Abu Dhabi International reported a 4.8% increase in passengers in April, and a number of hotels, including Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Maryah Island, opened in the last few months.
