Wyndham Hotel Group has appointed Rogier M. Hurkmans as cluster general manager for Tryp by Wyndham in Barsha Heights and Wyndham Dubai Marina.
Hurkmans, who was promoted to this role, joined the Wyndham Hotel Group in the Middle East a year ago as opening general manager of Wyndham Dubai Marina.
In his new role, Hurkmans will be responsible for the opening of the Tryp by Wyndham property located in Barsha Heights, set to open in the first half of 2017, as well as continuing to oversee operations at Wyndham Dubai Marina.
With more than two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Hurkmans has worked with hotel chains including InterContinental, Hilton, Steigenberger, Swissôtel and Bilderberg, while working on a number of hotel openings, renovations, and rebranding projects.

“Rogier is a talented and experienced hospitality professional and will play a key role in ensuring that the opening of Tryp by Wyndham is a success and continue to provide guests at Wyndham Dubai Marina a high-quality service and exceptional value it has become known for,” said Wyndham Hotel Group regional vice president for Middle East and Africa Michael Zager, in a statement.
Hurkmans said: “Wyndham Hotel Group’s portfolio continues to grow in strength and I am excited to embark on this new chapter and continue to be part of the journey."
First announced in 2013, Dubai's first Tryp hotel is reportedly set to be the largest hotel under the Tryp by Wyndham portfolio with 688 hotel rooms.
Both Tryp by Wyndham in Barsha Heights and Wyndham Dubai Marina are managed by Wyndham Hotel Group and owned by The First Group.
