R Hotels has confirmed that its 253-key property on the Palm Jumeirah is set to be a holistic health and wellness resort, with the group set to sign a partnership with a global brand in developing the concept and providing the services.
Hotelier Middle East reported that the hotel will attract health and wellness tourists, and R Hotels managing director Sumair Tariq confirmed in a recent statement: "With the increasing number of hotel projects underway in the region, R Hotels strives to offer a distinctive concept in this highly competitive market.
"People are more health-conscious than before and we have witnessed an increased demand for products which are designed for healthy lifestyle including leisure activities, food, and even gadgets. With this trend, our group is keen to introduce the region’s first health and wellness resort, by partnering with trusted brands."
The pre-opening of the property will be headed by Samir Arora, who is currently the general manager of Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham JBR.
In his role as pre-opening GM, Arora will be in-charge of dealing with the key partners of the property ranging from contractors, consultants and suppliers.
He will also lead the sourcing of suitable brands for the hotel, manage the recruitment for key positions, and direct sales and marketing strategies prior to the opening.

The property, which will be the first four-star rated hotel at The Palm, will offer spa and beauty treatments, as well as wellbeing and lifestyle packages – from proper diet and nutrition, fitness classes and health treatments.
The hotel will hire a certified nutritionist and wellness coach for the programmes such as weight loss, both for children and adults. Some of the fitness classes planned include yoga, tai chi, pilates and aerobics.
The overall design concept of the property will be organic, with the use of earth colours and materials like wood.
For the food and beverage element, the hotel will feature a healthy concept restaurant serving meals and drinks made from fresh and organic ingredients, with live cooking stations and a fresh juice bar. It will offer a range of options from low calorie and gluten-free foods, as well as vegan and vegetarian meals.
Arora said: "We are all excited to the see the project taking shape, and to break new ground with a health and wellness resort. We aim to offer a holistic experience for the senses – the mind, body and soul. The idea is to keep the guests engaged throughout the whole stay, where every aspect – from check in to check out, the room, the food and beverage offers, amenities, wellbeing programmes and the outstanding service – is appreciated.”
