As with every year, the Hotelier Middle East Power 50 list sheds light on interesting news, facts and figures; we share our top five:

The Hotelier Middle East Power 50 list this year features 18 new entries - these are people, not companies.

After ranking first in the list in 2011, Guido de Wilde, senior vice president, regional director Middle East, Starwood Hotels & Resorts returns to the top spot five years later.

Rudi Jagersbacher stepped down from the Power 50 List this year, after having won the top rank three consecutive times - in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Between them, the hoteliers in the top 10 have 454 operating hotels under their command.

The top 10 list has two new entries. Olivier Granet, AccorHotels' managing director and COO, has taken third place, replacing Christophe Landais who is now overseeing AccorHotels projects in Iran. In addition, Hyatt group president EAME and South West Asia Peter Fulton is in eight spot, replacing Pablo Graf.
