Sales managers are the hardest to recruit. Sales managers are the hardest to recruit.

Sales and F&B operations are the most difficult hospitality functions to recruit for, according to the findings of the second annual Hotelier Middle East Human Capital Report.

The survey behind the report revealed that the hardest role to fill is that of sales & marketing director, followed by executive chef.

Meanwhile, the most difficult seniority levels to attract are ‘management’ and ‘mid-management’.

One HR director said: “It is difficult to find people for senior positions in F&B operations in order to meet the requirements of the relevant outlet and cuisine. They should have the business ‘savvy’ to come up with unique ideas, marketing suggestions and promotions.”

Another respondent said that culinary roles are “the hardest to fill due the technical skills required and the high demand in the market compared to other jobs”.

The second annual Hotelier Middle East Human Capital Report is designed to explore the issues, challenges and opportunities facing hospitality professionals responsible for the hotel industry’s most important asset – its people.
