Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah is set to host the second ‘Black Week’ festival in December 2016, with a special room offer for guests during this time.
Black Week runs from December 1-2, and the package is available for stays from November 30-December 4. Prices start at €325 (US $345) per room for two nights, includes daily breakfast, an invitation to the festival’s opening ceremony and all panel sessions.
This year’s festival will be in honour of Georges Simenon, a Belgian author who created fictional detective Jules Maigret. He visited Istanbul in 1933 and stayed at Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah. He also wrote two books set in Turkey.
The festival will include panel discussions at the hotel with both local and international detective novel writers. Participants include Turkey’s detective and mystery writer, Ahmet Umit, and international writers including Philip Kerr, Sam Wilson, Tibor Fischer, Mari Jungstedt and David Walton.
Last year the festival was dedicated to Agatha Christie to celebrate her 125th birthday. It is believed that Christie penned her novel, Murder on the Orient Express, in the hotel.
