Asia de Cuba is opening in Bahrain this month, located in a new complex called Gallery 21.

Asia de Cuba Bahrain will serve the US-founded brand's signature Chino-Latino plates and has Cuban-born executive chef Luis Pous at the helm in the kitchen.

His menu fuses Asian techniques and ingredients, with traditional Cuban food.

The concept, created Jeffery Chodorow. is Inspired by Havana's Chinatown, El Barrio Chino de la Habana, which was the first Chinatown in the Americas.

Dishes at the new restaurant include red snapper ceviche with Thai chili, red onion, cilantro and plantains and tuna with seared foie gras, orange, Asian pear and malanga chips.

Some of the small plates include shrimp churros with sesame and coconut curry; braised beef short rib ropa vieja spring rolls with rocoto sweet and sour sauce; chicken chicharrones, served either traditional or with honey-soy glaze and an Asia de Cuba top seller, tunapica tartare with crispy wontons, Spanish olives, almonds, currants and avocado ceviche (a vegetarian version made with beets is also available).

Asia de Cuba Bahrain is being opened by China Grill Management (CGM), a company founded by Chodorow over 25 years ago.

CGM and its affiliates have opened restaurants in major cities around the world, including Asia de Cuba's sister restaurant, China Grill. CGM reopened Asia de Cuba in New York City, renovated Asia de Cuba at the St. Martin’s Lane Hotel in London, and opened the Middle East’s first Asia de Cuba, based in Abu Dhabi.

The company plans to open outposts of Asia de Cuba and some of its other brands in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha and Bahrain.
