UK-based Radnor Preserves is eyeing a 2017 launch for its line of fine marmalades in the UAE. The UAE will serve as a stepping stone for eventual expansion throughout the MENA region, primarily in the markets of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, founder and director Joanna Morgan revealed in an interview during Gulfood 2017.

"We came first to Gulfood two years ago and since arriving this time, we've had very good meetings and have been building on the leads made," Morgan said. "I'm feeling very confident that by the end of Gulfood, we will have even more exciting news to share."

Radnor Preserves recently won accolades for its Smoky Campfire Marmalade, which was recognised during the World Marmalade Awards as “literally and officially, the best marmalade in the world”, Morgan said. Both the Smoky Campfire marmalade and Radnor's Pink Gin marmalade are the company's bestsellers since both launched at Fortnum & Mason in London.

Radnor Preserves currently supplies the Tate Gallery in London and is presently exploring opportunities with the foodservice sector, especially with luxury hotels and resorts in the UAE. Its Gold Leaf marmalade, which is available in 60-gram as well as 30-gram jars, along with its Raspberry and Cardamom marmalade, is predicted to be a bestseller in the Gulf region.

Referring to the Gold Leaf marmalade, Morgan said: "Currently, there's lots of interest." She added that the Gold Leaf line is being trialed by private jet customers and is proving to be "very popular."

Premium gift box packaging by Radnor Preserves have been developed in black, red and green colours, with white  due to come online within the next few months, to order to complete the representation of all colours of the UAE national flag. Radnor Preserves is also preparing English and Arabic versions of gift box packaging to be available for the UAE market.

Morgan added that although she expects that the UK will be able to cope with demand from the Gulf region for the initial couple of years, she hopes that within three to five years, if demand in the region warrants, she could be potentially looking at future production in the UAE as well, which will entail securing quality sourcing and setting up a manufacturing facililty.
