Novotel Fujairah is expected to generate 12% in energy savings from a planned hotel retrofit to be financed by Yellow Door Energy, a Dubai-based solar and energy asset operating and investment company, reported Construction Week Online.
The retrofit is based on the recommendations of EcoVis Engineering, an Abu Dhabi-based energy savings company and regional provider of ecological engineering designs, the report said.
The retrofit of the hotel will encompass improvements to its heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, along with the establishmentt of a waste water recovery system. The hotel improvements are expected to generate approximately 12% on savings on its power bills and offset 500 tonnes of carbob dioxide, the report said. The project is scheduled ot be completed in less than three months with no disruptions to hotel operations.
Energy savings companies offer “performance contracting” - i.e. assuming the risk of delivering the energy saving measures proposed to a client, which can serve as a useful model for companies that have identified energy saving opportunities but lack the financial resources to implement action, the report said.
EcoVis has provided engineering consultancy services to dozens of organisations in the UAE, including hotels, factories and government buildings. The Yellow Door Energy project for Novotel Fujairah is its first shared savings contract.
