Parkway International Contracting, a Dubai-based firm, has been awarded a $50.2m (AED184.5m) contract to construct Nakheel’s second hotel at Ibn Batutta Mall. The 375-key hotel has a total project value of $65.3m (AED240m), Construction Week reported.
The new hotel forms part of Nakheel’s $816m (AED3bn) hospitality expansion under which the developer is bringing 16 new hotels and serviced apartment complexes – with 5,300 rooms – to Dubai.
The new hotel, will be operated by Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group under its Avani brand, complementing Nakheel’s first hotel at Ibn Battuta – a 372-key Premier Inn that opened in October 2016.
With a built-up area of 2.5ha, the 15-floor Avani Ibn Battuta Mall features an all-day restaurant, pool, gym and car park for 135 vehicles.
HotelierMiddleEast.com previously reported that the latest development will be one of two Nakheel hotels at Ibn Battuta, and one of 10 in its overall hotel portfolio.
