Dubai's Nakheel started work on a new, 375-room hotel at Ibn Battuta Mall, with a total project value of AED240 million on Monday, April 24, 2017.

The ground-breaking ceremony was led by chairman Ali Rashid Lootah and comes a month after the company handed a construction contract to Dubai-based Parkway International Contracting to build the hotel, which will be operated by Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group under the Avani brand.

The new hotel forms part of Nakheel’s $816m (AED3bn) hospitality expansion under which the developer is bringing 16 new hotels and serviced apartment complexes – with 5,300 rooms – to Dubai.
