Mid-scale hotel brand Park Inn by Radisson has debuted in the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia with the opening in Makkah Al Naseem.

Mark Willis, area senior vice president, Middle East, Turkey & Africa for the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, said in a statement: "We are delighted to open our first hotel in the holy city with Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Al Naseem. This is a significant hotel addition not just for the Park Inn by Radisson brand but for the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, as we now begin to see our strong development pipeline across Saudi Arabia materialise, with multiple hotel openings coming to fruition in the next 18 months."

The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has a large presence in Saudi Arabia with 35 hotels and more than 9,000 rooms in operation or under development.

“We believe the Park Inn by Radisson brand is entering this important segment at a very opportune time to support the increase in pilgrim travellers seeking affordable accommodation and a hassle-free experience. The growth of religious tourism to the Kingdom and the Holy City of Makkah for local and international travellers is expected to grow, and we are well placed to provide all the essentials of an international hotel brand,” added Willis.

Operated by The Rezidor Hotel Group, Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Al Naseem is located 20 metres from Al Rajhi Mosque, the second largest mosque in Makkah and one that accommodates more than 15,000 worshippers. The hotel also is situated very close to the holy sites of Arafat, Mina and Mozdalifa, while the holy sites of Jabal Thawr and Jabal Nur are just a short drive from the hotel. The hotel has good transportation links with King Abdulaziz International Airport and Al Taif International Airport, both one hour away.

Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Al Naseem has 459 rooms and suites, most of which overlook the Al Rajhi Mosque. Guests can choose between twin and king beds, each with a special lighting system that allows guests to control the colour of light. Each accommodation features individual climate control, a sofa bed, safety deposit box and free wireless high-speed internet access.

For dining, Al Awali restaurant serves local and international cuisine, while the hotel’s lobby café serves sweet and savoury snacks and can host up to 200 people. And for an outdoor space, the Roof Top Garden Cafe offers views of the Holy City.

The hotel offers private male and female gyms equipped with the latest aerobic fitness equipment. The hotel also has two modern and spacious meeting rooms for up to 120 people and includes a breakout area. The onsite indoor and outdoor parking and shuttle services to and from the Holy Mosque is complimentary.

The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group recently announced plans to open the world’s largest Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels in Makkah. The group remains on track to achieve its target to operate 100 hotels across the Middle East by 2020.
