Niyama Private Islands has appointed Hotelier Award winner Deveekaa Nijhawan as the director of PR & communications.
Last year, she won the Marketing & PR Person award by a unanimous vote at the Hotelier Middle East 2016 Awards. She won for keeping her property’s F&B outlets in the news (of which there are 18), along with garnering coverage for events from a variety of publications, generating more media coverage.
Nijhawan a well-known personality in the hospitality industry in the Middle East, has over five years of experience as the complex public relations and communications manager of Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre in Dubai. She is known in the industry for going the extra mile to generate publicity, build media relations, network with key influencers and create marketing and revenue generating opportunities for the hotel.
She started her career at this property, as a public relations and communications executive in June 2012 and, within two years, rose to head the department. She grew up in different countries, including India, Sri Lanka, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Dubai.
In her new position as director of public relations & communications, Nijhawan will be responsible to drive all PR, marketing, partnership, digital communications and social media activities at Niyama Private Islands.
Nijhawan commented “I am very excited to join the Minor Hotel Group and embrace this new challenge. I am looking forward to working with the team to develop strategic and tactical marketing strategies to position the resort as being synonymous with Maldives and the destination to holiday in.”
