The Hotelier Middle East Finance Person of the Year was awarded to Ahmed Amin El Sharkawy from InterContinental Al Jubail at the thirteenth annual Hotelier Middle East Awards 2017.
El Sharkawy has worked on a number of substantial savings with a cost management initiative that not only benefits his property but also that of the operator in the region. According to his entry form, clear and transparent communication is important, and as a result of all his efforts, he has managed to achieve the highest saving ratio according to YTD achieved savings vs target among all areas, while also exceeding the regional and global benchmark scores of the company.
Backstage at the awards, he revealed his long term plan was to get to the chief operating officer position in my company.

"It's not just about making money. It's about looking also at commercial success of the hotel and the bottom line," he said to Hotelier about his job role and what make him stand out from the rest of the nominees.
