Costa Coffee presented a cheque to Al Noor Training Centre, after customers help raise more than AED 100,000 through its ‘Hug a Mug’ charity initiative.
In support of the ‘Year of Giving’ and Costa’s Global Community Week, Costa Coffee UAE and the community have raised a total of AED 104,178 for the Al Noor Training Centre, a school for the differently abled.
The money was raised through Costa’s Hug a Mug initiative, which invited people across the UAE to give a ‘hug’ and share love through a range of in-store activities with Costa’s mug mascots, via virtual hugs on the Hug a Mug microsite, and on social media.
AED1 was donated each time the hashtag #HugAMug was used. Visitors to Costa also enjoyed a range of limited edition Al Noor cupcakes and a white chocolate latte, with all proceeds going to the Al Noor Training Centre.
Isphana Al Khatib, director, Al Noor Training Centre, said: “We couldn’t be happier to have been part of such a wonderful and creative initiative and are hugely grateful to all who got involved right across the UAE.
“This was a true show of community spirit and the money raised will make a massive difference to the lives of our students and our school.”
