Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI) a travel website has named two Dubai hotels as the 'worst luxury openings of 2017' in its year-end report. The two hotels are both located on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah.
Dukes Dubai and Five Palm Jumeirah were named by the members-only resource for affluent globetrotters as the worst ranked hotel openings of the year. According to The Daily Mail: "The Dukes Dubai was criticised for not living up to the elegance of its sister property in London while it said Five Palm Jumeirah had a shaky start."
Five Palm Jumeirah has been embroiled in a legal battle with the property's previous operator Viceroy Hotels since June 2017.

In addition to this positive guest feedback, several celebrities such as Will Smith and Craig David have thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the hotel. In addition to this positive feedback in recent months, Five has introduced several new outlets to further enhance the guest experience. This includes remodeling our Penthouse on the 16th floor into a luxury rooftop lounge and our new beach restaurant, Praia. We will also soon open our whisky and cigar bar, Above 21.”
This year, LTI visited 74 new hotels, and named 14 new hotels as "exceptional" properties. Topping that list was another Dubai hotel: Bulgari Hotels and Resorts.
"This sensational property impressed us so much it became this year's last minute LTI top pick," says LTI founder Michael Crompton.
"It is low level (just four floors), private and understated - everything most Dubai hotels are not. We also love its striking architecture," he added.
The luxury property is the world's fifth Bulgari Hotels and Resorts property and will be operated by Marriott International. It's designed by Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners.
