Spontini, a Milan-based pizzeria will soon open in Kuwait, its first location in the Middle East. The pizzeria has signed an agreement with M.H. Alshaya Co., an international retail franchise operator, to open restaurants across the MENA region.

Spontini, which started in 1953 under the name ‘Cibi Cotti,’ is slice pizza prepared in iron pans and is baked in wooden ovens. The restaurant was renamed ‘Spontini’ after the street in which the original store is located.

Spontini executive chairman and founder of the brand Massimo Innocenti said: “I’m proud that we’ll be able to offer diners in the MENA region a handmade pizza that will be prepared every day using the same recipe Spontini has been using since 1953, with the same Italian ingredients we use in our stores in Milan.

Currently, Spontini has 20 pizzerias in Italy and Japan.
