In no particular order, take a look at the hottest new hotel openings of Q1 2018, across the GCC and wider Middle East region. 

Melia Serengeti Lodge, Tanzania 

Meliá Hotels & Resorts opened the sustainability-focused Meliá Serengeti Lodge, Tanzania in February this year. It is located in the Serengeti National Park, the oldest national park in Tanzania, on the western border of Lake Victoria, a World Heritage Site. The property is positioned on the natural terraces of the southern slopes of Nyamuma, offering views of the Mbalageti River valley.

Kempinski Hotel Muscat

Kempinski Hotel Muscat, previously known as Kempinski The Wave hotel has now opened its doors. The hotel is the first Kempinski branded hotel to open in Oman. The 310-key hotel has 10 restaurants and bars, along with a health club and a spa. The hotel was designed by Woods Bagot and was inspired by Old Muscat destinations like the Muttrah Corniche. The design of the lobby was inspired by the Al Alam Palace, the palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. 

Radisson Blu Dubai Waterfront 

Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Waterfront opened its doors in Business Bay in March 2018. The five-star hotel is located in Downtown Dubai and offers views of the Burj Khalifa and the newly-opened Dubai Water Canal. The hotel has 432 rooms and suites, and many rooms have private balconies with up-close views of the Dubai skyline.

Gevora Hotel, Dubai

The world's tallest hotel made its debut in February 2018 and is now the world's tallest hotel overtaking JW Marriott Marquis. Consisting of 75 floors and measuring 356 metres in height, the hotel located on Sheikh Zayed Road in the Trade Centre area, will contain 528 guest rooms and suites and four restaurants when it opens. 

Protea Hotel by Marriott Constantine, Algeria

Protea Hotels by Marriott, part of Marriott International announced its expansion into North Africa with the opening of Protea Hotel by Marriott Constantine, Algeria in February 2018. The hotel’s 72 guest rooms are spread over six floors and additional facilities include two boardrooms and a ballroom. 

Radisson Blu Hotel, Jeddah Corniche

Radisson Blu opened its fifth hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: the 150-room Radisson Blu Hotel, Jeddah Corniche in January 2018. It is close to the North Corniche, which overlooks the Red Sea and is within the city’s newest waterfront development.

Le Grand Amman

AccorHotels has launched the re-branding of a landmark hotel in Jordan to Le Grand Amman in January 2018. The property consisting of 298-rooms and 67 well-appointed serviced apartments was launched in partnership with Iskan Co. for Touristic & Hotel Investments.

Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis

Even though it's not yet open, an honorary mention goes to Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis. Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts will open its latest property in North Africa – the lakeside Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis in Tunisia’s capital. The 189-key hotel, which is located in the Berges du Lac business and diplomatic district is headed by general manager Nicolas Pezout.
