Last four holes played by world’s top golfers as preparations for the Dubai World Championship pick up pace
Leisurecorp today (January 27) unveiled the last four holes of its Earth course at Dubai’s Jumeirah Golf Estates, the location of the November Dubai World Championships — the culmination of The Race to Dubai.
Leisurecorp CEO — Golf David Spencer said: “It’s an exciting time and I think it’s important that the world of golf knows just how on track we are, not just with The Race to Dubai but with the Dubai World Championships.
“The entire golf course is finished but the last four holes we’ve nicknamed internally as the green mile. It’s a mile long, it’s tough, the whole golf course is tough,” said Spencer.
A team of star players including Sergio Garcia, Robert Karlsson, Justin Rose, Darren Clarke and Martin Kaymer, along with three-time UAE champion Kahlid Yousuf, had a sneak preview of the last four holes, described by Earth’s designer Greg Norman as “the most challenging in golf”.

“We will work to make this golf course an extreme test for the Dubai World Championship,” commented Spencer.
“There’s a lot of different scope as to how the European Tour can set the course up,” he said.
Spencer reinforced, however, that “the golfing public will also be able to come and enjoy this golf course”.
Ongoing development of the Earth Course stopped for one day to enable the preview, timed to coincide with this week’s 20th anniversary of the Dubai Desert Classic, but the course will not be played competitively until the Dubai World Championships start on November 19.
The Race to Dubai started in November 2008 at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai and continues this week at the Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club.
