W Hotels, a Marriott International luxury brand, set up four luxury yurts designed to resemble W hotel suites from around the world at this year’s Coachella Valley Music Festival taking place in California, USA. The festival which kicked-off on Friday, April 13th will end on Sunday, April 22, 2018.
The activation, which Marriott states is a ‘one-of-a kind’ experience offers Marriott Rewards members and SPG offered members attending the festival an opportunity to bid their points for an exclusive weekends stay, either for the first or the second, in one of the designer yurts located on Coachella’s VIP safari campgrounds.
Three of the yurts is designed to replicate a W hotel suite from properties in Bali, Hollywood and Barcelona and is open for bidding. The fourth yurt is designed to replicate the brand’s soon-to-open property, W Dubai — The Palm which is set to be the first W Escape in the Middle East.
Last year, at the same festival, Marriott pitched eight tents with interiors resembling safaris.
For the second weekend, all four yurts are booked by members who bid on the MR or SPG moments platforms, an official from Marriott International told Hotelier Middle East.
A Forbes report on the same story claims the yurt designed after the Hollywood property bid for 80,000 points which amounts to $38,233.
And as for the general festival goers, Marriott opened up its Loyalty tent to have the opportunity to relax, refresh and recharge.
