Dubai Municipality has announced that 2,656 hotels and food outlets in Dubai have been awarded an A+ rating following food inspections in the first half of 2018, reports CatererMiddleEast.com.

Food Inspection Section head Sultan Ali Al Tahir said: “The increased number of excellent rating was the result of the implementation of strategic food safety programmes for the food establishments in the emirate and their adherence to our procedures to raise the hygiene and technical standards to reach this advanced level, most notably the application of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) risk analysis system in all hotels, catering companies, and increasing their effectiveness.”

The first six months of the year also saw 72 food outlets temporarily closed down due to high-risk violations but Al Tahir said: “the municipality allowed a large number of them to reopen after meeting the technical specification and hygiene requirements and fully complying with the food safety rules and regulations of the municipality.”
