Amara’s Jason Sloan moves to Jeddah to work on pre-opening and management of brand’s new spa

Park Hyatt Jeddah is set to launch the first spa of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Featuring entirely gender-separated facilities, including tennis and squash courts, a Jacuzzi, swimming pool, country club and crèche, the spa will be a major component of the hotel, which is currently under construction along the coast of the  Red Sea.

Former Park Hyatt Dubai director of spa Jason Sloan has taken on the new role as executive director of spa and recreation.

“The spa is huge, even bigger than the hotel,” said Sloan. “In total there are around 40 treatment rooms,” he added. Due to local culture, Sloan will not be allowed access into the ladies’ section.

“It’s going to be challenging but it’s exclusively members only and we’re going to have a strong female manager,” he said.

The spa will offer a broad spectrum of treatments, including medical spa and water-based treatments, as well as integrated fitness facilities offering personal training programmes. “It’s going to be an amazing new concept in the region; totally outstanding with the whole wellness aspect,” said Sloan.

The spa is under development but is expected to open by the end of the year.

Sloan could not yet confirm who would be taking over as director of spa at the Park Hyatt Dubai.
