Millennium Resort Mussanah, Oman has opened the registration for the Millennium Triathlon slated to be held on September 21, 2018.
Held in association with Triathlon Middle East LLC, the annual endurance race for triathletes will also add the Millennium Kids Aquathon in which younger athletes can compete for the first time.
The resort general manager Dermot Birchall said the event is expecting more than 200 entrants this year.
He said: ““We are pleased to announce that registration for this year’s Millennium Triathlon is now open. We expect to receive more than 200 triathletes who will be competing in this year’s event. The huge success of last year’s triathlon and the great number of spectators have prompted us to launch the Kid’s Aquathlon allowing younger athletes to test their skills in the swimming and running competitions.
“Our goal is to be a destination for international sporting events and we count on the success of the annual triathlon to fulfill that. This will be another exciting sporting event for the residents and visitors of Oman,” he added.
The race is suitable for all levels from beginners to professionals. The Millennium Triathlon Sprint Race will cover a distance of 750 meter swim, 20km bike, and 5km run while the Kids Aquathlon will cover a distance of 50m swim (in the resort's family pool) and 300m run.
