The pace is picking up on the long awaited Hotel JAL Tower Dubai with the Japanese hotel company aiming to open the doors to the property on April 1, 2010.

Previously scheduled to open in late 2008/early 2009, the property experienced delays but, according to Hotel JAL Tower Dubai deputy general manager Olivier Pollard, this could have been a blessing in disguise.

“Because of what’s happening now, I can say I’m not really sad to not have to open now,” he said.

“When you are working on a development, you normally really fight to open as soon as possible to get business in, but this time having the extra year is almost a blessing — it allows us to prepare better and hope for better times.”

Pollard said the next year would focus on fine-tuning aspects of the hotel, establishing procedures and recruiting.

“Currently we are a team of about 10 or 12 in the new office, but we have a target of 750 staff to be ready for the opening so there’s a lot of work to be done,” Pollard said.

Hotel JAL Tower Dubai will boast 471 rooms as well as a range of restaurants that will include authentic Japanese cuisine.
