Emirates Airline and group has appointed Marriott International as hotel operator of the Park Towers Hotel in Dubai.

The announcement was made by Emirates Airline chairman and chief executive HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum on the opening day of the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.

Under Marriott management, the property will be branded as one of the top-end JW Marriott Marquis luxury hotels.

The Park Towers property – a 1614-room twin tower hotel and apartment complex - is currently under construction on Sheikh Zayed Road, adjacent to Dubai’s Business Bay district.

The first tower comprising 807 rooms is expected to open in 2011 and the second tower will open in 2013.

Addressing international press at the trade event HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: "Emirates development of this new property reflects our commitment to, and confidence in, the city’s ongoing success.

"As a leading international hotel management group operating several successful brands, Marriott has the track-record and the global infrastructure to maximise the value of our investment."

Marriott International president Ed Fuller also addressed the media saying the relationship would be effective in marketing Dubai as a luxury destination.

"This is our second Marquis hotel in Dubai. It is an energetic city and we are excited for the opening of this hotel."

The five-star hotel will be marketed to both business and leisure travellers Fuller added.
