Ski Dubai, the indoor snow leisure facility at Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, has opened an additional attraction for those wanting to enjoy the snow without having to know how to ski or snowboard.
The Mountain Thriller is a 128 meter long ice slide, rather like a bobsled run, and requires no training or equipment to use.
“For our visitors who wish to enjoy descending the slopes of the region’s first indoor ski resort without skiing or snowboarding, Mountain Thriller is the perfect ride to be on,” said Ski Dubai operations manager Lucas Marchand.
The Mountain Thriller is suitable for anyone over the age of three and riders can reach speeds of up to 20km/h.
The ride forms part of a new pricing strategy from Ski Dubai, which has introduced its Mammoth Fun Pass for the duration of the emirate-wide Dubai Summer Surprises festival. The pass, costing AED 300 (US$82) includes access to the Ski Dubai snow park, Mountain Thriller, family sledge and giant snow ball, plus a ticket for Ice Age 3 at CineStar Cinemas, and AED 100 (US$27) worth of credit for the Magic Planet family entertainment centre.

Majid Al Futtaim Group, which operates Ski Dubai, CineStar Cinemas and Magic Planet declined to disclose if any further attractions were to be added to Ski Dubai but indicated that there was a long-term programme to develop the destination.
“As a unique leisure destination, we have plans of adding interesting offerings for our visitors along with polishing our existing services,” said Marchand.
