‘Intelligent luxury’ hotel group, Six Senses Hotels & Spas, has revealed plans to put Jordan’s Ma’in Hot Springs back on the tourism map once and for all.

The company has already taken a huge leap towards achieving this goal by opening its first property in Jordan — Evason Ma’in Hot Springs & Six Senses Spa — on February 14, offering an accommodation option, style of hospitality and several unique experiences that have not been found in Jordan before.

However, the plan is to make even more of the resort’s assets by improving the public hot springs facilities and further boosting the range of experiences on offer to resort guests, the property’s general manager, Manish Puri, has revealed.

“We want the hot springs in Ma’in to be a top tourist spot in Jordan,” he told ATN. “It had gone off the map [before we took over] because it was filthy so we are upgrading it and we are about 20% there.”

Six Senses manages two areas — the resort, which in addition to the hotel and spa, has its own natural springs and waterfalls and the separate public area, which has three waterfalls, hot springs, a Roman bath, mosque, shop and picnic area.

Since taking the public area on board, a cleaning strategy has been put in place, more security officers have been appointed and there is a campaign to educate visitors about keeping the natural facility clean and rubbish-free.

Back at the resort and in addition to the already impressive experiences currently on offer — dining by the waterfalls, trekking, yoga and private Dead Sea picnics, to name but a few — Puri has many more planned. These include paragliding into the resort; building luxury tents in the valley; employing a ‘Waterfall Butler’; and extending the kids club.

“We want our resort to be the base for visitors to the north of Jordan — the Dead Sea, Madaba, Amman and Jerash,” he said. “Then, once our property in Petra is open (in around two years), we will have most of the country covered,” he said.
