Dubai’s version of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is set to be held for one month from January 28, organisers announced on Thursday.

The Dubai Fringe Festival will feature free street entertainment and performers in outdoor locations around Dubai Festival City.

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the biggest arts festival in the world, offering theatre, comedy, music, dance, and exhibitions. This year’s festival will take place from August 6-30.

International acts which have appeared at Edinburgh in the past will be performing in Dubai, a statement by Dubai Festival City said.

These include, Pedro Tochas, a sculptor clown from Portugal, Sam Wills, New Zealand’s comedy stunt juggler, and Magic Brian from the US who will attempt to escape from 40 feet of chains and a straitjacket.

Cirque Du Soleil’s Reuben Dot Dot will do acrobatic stunts and Venezuela’s theatrical percussion group Primate will perform their latest show.

“Innovative street artists will be on hand to create a festival atmosphere, unlike anything that has been seen in Dubai before,” the statement said.
